Tooth Clutch
A toothed clutch is a device that connects two kinematic systems rotating at the same or a slightly different speed, depending on the type of toothing. It can have the following types of toothing:
- Triangular without backlash, for connecting at a standstill or at null/almost null relative velocity, with two-way drive.
- Trapezoidal with backlash, for connecting at a standstill or at very low relative velocity, with two-way drive.
- Saw toothing, for connecting during movement at medium to low relative velocity, with one-way drive.
Standard toothed clutches allow connection in any position, while other toothed clutches can be provided for connecting a single point or several fixed points (phase).
They can be controlled in the following ways:
- Hydraulic
- Pneumatic
- Electromagnetic
They can operate in the following ways:
- POSITIVE: the control connects the transmission.
- NEGATIVE: (with springs pressure) normally closed: the control disconnects the transmission.
